Welcome to the website of Corrosion Metallurgy (CorrMet) Laboratory at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) led by Prof. Karthikeyan Hariharan dedicated to the study and research of corrosion and environmental degradation, including environmentally-assisted cracking of structural alloys across temperatures, pressures. Our laboratory is committed to exploring all aspects of corrosion, providing fundamentals insights that also have deep practical implications. We take a special interest in understanding the impact of metallurgical factors, such as alloy chemistry and microstructure, on corrosion resistance.

We use a wide range of experimental tools including electrochemical and non-electrochemical corrosion monitoring techniques, and electron microscopy while also leveraging theoretical and thermodynamic modeling (CALPHAD) in providing a holistic mechanisms of environmental degradation. Our lab also hosts several mechanical test frames and static autoclaves, along with electrochemical workstations to aid us in research.

No PhD position currently available. Postdocs looking for NPDF opportunities may approach Prof. Karthik for building proposals together for the next ANRF-NPDF
